Structure and direct a complex digital service brief
Craft a mobile and community web app to help 16-24 year olds living with cancer
Translate the successful web app into a mobile app, enabling more users to create a profile, get support from experts, provide support to peers and search for information

The challenge

Traditionally recognised as a children’s cancer charity, CLIC Sargent identified a need to extend their service to help young adults. They were looking to embrace digital comms and to create a digital service to extend the support that they offered to 16-24 year olds.

The solution

IE conducted user research, rapid prototyping and user testing sessions to craft a mobile community tool to help support 16-24 year olds living with cancer. The community is a focussed Q&A forum, available on both mobile and desktop devices, where members can get support from experts, support their peers and access helpful advice.

With a bespoke front end and a Drupal back end, the web app helped CLIC Sargent to extend the support they offer to families and children, to include young adults. Following a successful initial launch, IE developed the community into a mobile application. CLIC Sargent and IE GDS launched the app at a seminar at CHASE – the annual Charities and Associations Event in London.

We came to IE GDS with a complex brief for our online community. IE focused on the essential principles, actualising this into an intuitive website that will help CLIC Sargent build a vibrant space for 16 to 24-year-olds, who have, or have had cancer
